I think it's very well done for a first(?) I'm assuming, since you said it was based off a tutorial. Looks very much alive, with the trembling (blurring of the lines).

Great contrast to add to some action, and it gives a feel of life. Great use of colour by the way. Makes it seem like it's underwater, but it does remind you of neurons. It also gives a more energetic, wild look at the way neurons form. On TV and stuff, it's just like these little things forming connections, but I've never thought about them moving and bouncing every where. Very creative.

It's also cool how you've got the one guy there that seems to be created from the other guys in the corner. It, again, adds to the life feel. It also makes it look like we're gazing at creation or something like that.

Nice background, simple, and the bubbles here and there suggest a watery feel, but it's not overemphasized. And the mist of the background just lets you concentrate on the subjects. It's also quite cool how the mist sort of makes the background substance seem thick, but there's always something just making you think it's water. I think it also adds to the feel of the unknown, the void, and that stresses the creation (shall we say) of this neuron near the top there. Sort of looks like a steady trek towards life in a way.

For a first it's definately a great piece, and even if it wasn't, I like it a lot. Only suggestion I have might be to sharpen some of the tentacles a bit, make it look a bit more smooth and tubular. And the tentacle from the guy in the bottom left corner reaching upwards could probably be highlighted a bit more...maybe make it glow just a bit more. Give a bit of light to the tentacles - sort of like the glow you've got for the neurons...

Other than that, it's a great start. Very impressive!
